Wales Nature Week - Building bug houses

For their second site visit the pupils from Ysgol Bro Hedd Wyn joined us for a morning of wildlife monitoring and habitat creation. In teams they set about creating ‘bug houses’ using dead materials they found on site such as twigs, leaves etc.

This gave the children an opportunity to enjoy time out in nature and learn about the creatures that live in riparian buffer zones.

The pupils also assisted in moving our wildlife rafts further down the river after identifying signs of wildlife in the river bank. We will continue to monitor this raft and update the children on our findings.
