"Knowing is the key to caring, and with caring there is hope that people will be motivated to take positive actions.”

Our Vision

We believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the joy of rivers, streams, lakes and watery places. The joy of wildlife and learning how to protect and conserve them is key to the protection of the planet and future generations. Our vision is that people of all ages and backgrounds have the chance to learn about wildlife and the value of the natural world.

Why does this matter?

By ensuring people of all ages and backgrounds have access to, and education in, the natural world, we can improve mental and physical wellbeing, and safeguard the environment for the future. People are much more likely to take better care of the natural world after witnessing it. Nothing will change if we don't seize the chance to inspire current generations to have fewer negative effects on our natural environment and to foster a connection to rivers and watercourses in the next generation (as well as the present generations). If we don’t focus on the importance of educating people then the natural world will continue to deteriorate and wildlife will continue to suffer.

  • Protecting Wildlife & Biodiversity

Our education programme is a real hands on experience. From kick sampling bio blitz studies of our rivers, to fish hatchery programmes. Conserving our declining fish species and improving and purifying water quality through planting and growing our own wetland strips around waterways. Our education programme is an exciting programme that has students working on hands on projects both in class and down at the river. Get in touch to register your schools interest in this programme.

  • Wellbeing Sessions- Connect to nature

To connect people to our rivers we have partnered with We Swim Wild and North Wales Wildlife Trust, to deliver sessions that not only connect people to our rivers but to also enhance their wellbeing. We will beholding sessions in breath work, cold water swimming, angling days, environmental art, citizen science - all with the aim to encourage you to protect what you love.

  • Work Experience

If you are a student in higher education working in the conservation of waterways, then we can offer you hands on experience on one of our projects. We work with a diverse range of backgrounds and specialisms, from animation, photography, education, science, outdoor pursuits… Whatever your interest, we think hands on experience is imperative. Where we have suitable projects we will contact applicants to offer them opportunities to work on a live project.

Saving the Arctic Charr - Fishery hatching pilot programme

Chairman Dr Robin Parry led a pilot project to raise the profile of the declining population of native Arctic char in Llyn Padarn lake. This was an extremely hands on project allowing pupils to learn about the lifecycle of this fish, the issues facing our local lake due to pollution and climate change and what they can do at a local level to protect wild rivers and places.

North Wales Rivers Trust Education Programme

We are currently building on the success of our fish hatchery pilot project, developing a hands on conservation programme that schools can dip in and out of throughout the year. If you would like to get in touch to register your schools interest, please use the contact page and we will be in touch soon.
