Learn about Prosiect Torgoch in Llanberis

The North Wales Rivers Trust is excited to announce the launch of 'Prosiect Torgoch' on Tuesday, February 6th, with an open evening at The Padarn Hotel in Llanberis.

Leading the evening will be Dr. Anthony Smith, the trust's Principal Fisheries Officer and a specialist in the conservation and management of rare and threatened populations of Arctic charr (Torgoch) in North Wales. Dr. Smith will provide insights into the trust's ambitious plans for Prosiect Torgoch, highlighting how nature-based interventions will be utilised to enhance water quality, environmental conditions, and habitat for the Torgoch species.

Prosiect Torgoch is funded by the Heritage National Lottery and aims to actively involve the local community in its implementation. Senior Community Engagement Officer, Oisin, will also be in attendance to share information about exciting volunteer opportunities. These include activities such as snorkel surveying, nature walks, tree planting, and participating in spot-the-spawning sessions.

Join us for an informative evening as we embark on this crucial initiative to safeguard the unique and threatened Torgoch population in North Wales.
