New Floating Wetland project data & progress update

Our Floating Wetland project funded by Local Nature Partnerships and Cyngor Ynys Mon is well underway. Plans have been finalised for the instalment of the first wetland early this summer and we have established a local group of volunteers to help with monitoring the water quality through various methods.

Blue-green algae monitoring

For the last 3 weeks our community volunteers have been gathering weekly samples to be sent off for testing. Last week’s sample has come back showing low levels of Cyanobacteria were present at all three testing locations. This is in comparison to the previous two weeks where the results showed no signs. This monitoring will continue until September, helping us to gain further understanding of the cause and effects of the algae.

If you would like to volunteer on this project, we have a kick-sampling session taking place on Saturday 25th May. Sign up here.
