NWRT Team Trains on New Sustainable Farming Scheme Ahead of 2026 Launch
The NWRT team on a tour of the working farm.
This week, the North Wales Rivers Trust team undertook targeted training in current sustainable farming methods and the new Sustainable Farming Scheme (SFS), scheduled to launch in January 2026.
We were pleased to head over to Hilary from Kehoe Countrysides working farm, who delivered insightful training on contemporary farming, nature-based solutions, and practical land management. Her guidance ensured the team was well-versed in the coming opportunities and obstacles of the new scheme.
Classroom based sessions to train our staff on the latest developments in farm regulations and grant opportunities.
The session also outlined how NWRT can continue assisting farmers throughout our catchments—clarifying SFS standards, navigating funding, deploying effective measures, and cooperating to improve soil health, minimise runoff, and safeguard rivers and streams.
Cattle collars- the latest innovation for farmers using GPS technology to create boundaries using electric collars.
Strengthening our knowledge of land management and farm policy is essential as we continue to build partnerships with the agricultural community. Together, we can deliver better outcomes for farms, nature, and freshwater ecosystems across North Wales.
