Gathering Community Feedback on Flood Management
Last Thursday we headed out to Rhyl and Denbigh, to meet members of the public to discuss the issue of flooding. The aim was to gather people's experiences of local flooding events through open discussions and a short survey.
We gathered first-hand accounts of flooding in the area, learning about how these events have affected people’s lives, and introduced the concept of natural flood management as a potential long-term solution.
Encouragingly, there was strong interest in natural flood management strategies as mitigation for flooding. Approaches that work with the landscape to slow, store, and filter water naturally. Many residents expressed enthusiasm for solutions that not only reduce flood risk but also restore habitat and positively affect local biodiversity.
We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in our survey and took the time to talk to our team about their experiences.
