Perch snorkel surveys at llyn padarn

Last month we hosted our first community snorkel survey at Llyn Padarn. There was a great turn out with lots of volunteers keen to improve their snorkel skills and help trial the study into the perch population at Llyn Padarn.

Snorkeling allows for a non-invasive study of this species, whose presence in the lake poses potential ecological challenges. Perch are a potential threat to Arctic charr and other salmonids as they predate on juveniles and compete for food.

Our next snorkel survey at Llyn Padarn will be taking place on August 20th. Visit our events page to sign up or email poppy@northwalesriverstrust.org for more information.

These surveys are being completed as part of Prosiect Torgoch which is a project funded by Heritage Lottery Fund.
