Local Pupils Celebrate the Launch of Tesni the Torgoch

Last week, we were delighted to visit Ysgol Waunfawr to deliver copies of Tesni the Torgoch to the pupils who helped shape and inspire the story.

The book was created as part of Prosiect Torgoch, a project celebrating and raising awareness of the rare and remarkable Eryri Torgoch. It was made possible thanks to funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

During the project, pupils from the school helped explore the story of this unique fish and shared their ideas about what Tesni’s journey should be. Their creativity and curiosity helped bring the story to life, making them true co-creators of the book.

It was a proud and exciting moment to return to the school and present them with their own copies of the finished story. Seeing the pupils hold the book they helped create was a wonderful celebration of their hard work and imagination.

The Eryri Torgoch is one of Wales’ most iconic and ancient freshwater fish, found in only a few lakes in Eryri. Through this project, the pupils not only learned about this special species but also helped create a story that will educate and inspire other children for years to come.

What an amazing achievement for the local pupils — helping to tell the story of the Torgoch and sharing it with future generations through their very own storybook.
