Could you be our next River Ambassador?

The North Wales Rivers Trust is on the lookout for new River Ambassadors to join two exciting conservation projects, giving you the chance to make a real difference for some of our most vulnerable freshwater species while gaining hands-on experience and connecting with your local rivers in a new way.

Eel Ambassadors

We’re excited to launch a new project dedicated to protecting the endangered European Eel (Anguilla anguilla). As part of this initiative, we are looking for 10 passionate River Ambassadors to help raise awareness and champion the conservation of this remarkable species. Our Eel Ambassadors will have opportunities to gain new skills, meet like minded people and take part in conservation efforts around the Gwyrfai and the Glaslyn.

Freshwater Pearl Mussel Ambassadors

Building on our previous work in the Mawddach catchment, with a particular focus on the Afon Eden, we are inviting 10 volunteers to become Pearl Mussel Ambassadors. Help us raise awareness and protect the endangered freshwater pearl mussel (Margaritifera margaritifera) and the rivers they depend on.

No previous experience is needed! These opportunities are perfect for nature enthusiasts of all levels who want to gain hands-on conservation skills, make a real difference for endangered species, and share their passion for protecting our rivers with their local community. You’ll join a supportive team, get unique insights into freshwater wildlife, and help bring your local rivers to life for others.
