Small-diameter roundwood from local woodland can be extremely useful in river management and restoration, including for creating natural easements such as eel access and low-impact in-channel structures.
This practical session will introduce the properties of several common native tree species, how to identify them in winter, and how roundwood can be worked into simple tools and materials for use in and around rivers. The emphasis will be on understanding the material, safe handling, and applications relevant to river restoration and habitat work.
The session runs from 11:00am to 3:00pm on Thursday 29 January at Coed Cadnant by kind permission of The Woodland Trust.
