Second Co-Creation Session For Afon Cegin Project - RHiwlas Community
Last night we held our second co-creation session of the year at Rhiwlas Community Centre. It was fantastic to have members of the local community come along and share their ideas and hopes for their patch of the Afon Cegin.
The idea behind holding co-creation sessions is to bring local residents and members of key organisations into the planning and decision making of the Afon Cegin Blue Spaces project. The ideas generated in these meetings are forming our project blueprint, which once complete will be put back to the community for feedback.
We will be publishing a full report of the ideas generated in these meetings once all meetings have been held. In the meantime we have summarised some of the key points below.
What would the community like to see?
History of the river honored through signage/ guided walks
A statue/ access opened to Ffynnon Arthur (the source of the Cegin)
Training for volunteers
Activities for local children - inclusive of home education community
Footage of wildlife
Pollution tackled so it is safe to paddle/swim in the river
What issues were raised?
Invasive Species
Litter/ flytipping
Wildlife loss
Water quality decline
Keeping momentum for the project
