'Pollution' incident sparks 72-hour warning for anyone visiting popular Anglesey beach

A number of dead fish have been spotted in the water off the beach at Cemaes Bay.

Natural Resources Wales is today responding to an incident at Afon Wygyr, Cemaes Bay, Anglesey. NRW staff are onsite investigating what we believe to be a slurry incident which could affect bathing water quality in the short term and has resulted in a number of dead fish.

We have recently been working with farmers to improve the rivers on the Wigyr catchment so this is sad news for all. We will be monitoring this situation closely to ensure the protection of wildlife and water quality.
