FOUR SMART RIVER HUBs established

The North Wales Rivers Trust has recently started an exciting initiative to gather more data on the health of our waterways through setting up River Hubs to monitor aquatic invertebrates. In collaboration with the SmartRivers program by WildFish, we have established four new river hubs across the catchment area.

Our initial four hubs have been located in key areas linking up with ongoing projects; Rhosneigr, Llanberis, Afon Braint and Afon Ogwen.

The aim of these hubs is to empower local communities to become river health experts, filling a gap in water quality monitoring as regulatory agencies reduce their sample collection. The data gathered can not only used locally but also contributes to a national database that supports broader campaigns to improve water policies and enforce environmental regulations.

The establishment of these hubs will allow the North Wales Rivers Trust to take proactive steps in identifying river health issues and focusing restoration and campaigning efforts.
