Torgoch Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi, Deiniolen. The Char in Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi, Deiniolen, 2020

Once again this year NRW are undertaking stocking of Arctic Char into Llyn Padarn,to support the population following several years of reduced stocks due to phosphate enrichment linked to sewage effluent discharge. Seiont ,Gwyrfai and Llyfni Anglers’ Society,with equipment provided by the North Wales Rivers Trust set up a tank and cooler in Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi.Deiniolen, near Llyn Padarn.The pupils have learnt about the char,the effects of our lifestyle on the natural environment, and reared them to the fry stage before returning them to the lake.Below are parts of the social media record that we made as the programme progressed.

Yr wyau yn eu lle.A’r plant yn nodi’r tymheredd.A cadw llygad am wyau sydd wedi marw a gwynnu.Dim ond un hyd yn hyn ond maent wedi ei weld a’i dynnu o’r tanc rhag dyfetha’r gweddill.

The Char(Torgoch ) in Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi.The eggs in place,and the pupils are checking the temperature.and watching for dead (white) eggs. Only one so far but they spotted it and removed it before it could harm the remainder.

Pedwerydd wythnos yng ngofal y disgyblion.Wythnos dwytha roedd ambell bysgodyn bach yma ac acw rhwng yr wyau.Heddiw does dim un wy, a’r pysgod yn iach ac yn gryf.Bron yn amser mynd yn ôl i Lyn Padarn.

Char at Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi- fourth week now and all hatched and healthy in the pupils’ care. Soon we will be releasing them in Llyn Padarn.

Torgoch Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi.Eu bore olaf yn nwylo’r disgyblion- wedi cael gofal arbennig.P’nawn ‘ma i lawr i lannau Llyn Padarn a’u gosod yn bwyllog yma ag acw i’r llyn i hybu’r boblogaeth.Diolch yn fawr iawn i’r disgyblion a’r staff am eu hwyl a’u brwdfrydedd.Deorfa Crawia wedyn a pawb wedi cynhyrfu yn bwydo’r pysgod mawr.Am hwyl!

All the char fry were taken to Llyn Padarn today,and gently returned to boost the delicately balanced population,having received excellent care from the pupils(and staff) of Ysgol Gwaun Gynfi. Thanks to the school,staff, and pupils for all the support and fun. On to Crawia hatchery then to see the fry,juveniles and feed the bigger fish- great day had by all.
