Become a NWRT River Ambassador

We’re on the lookout for individuals across North Wales to become River Ambassadors. River Ambassadors are volunteers with a love of wildlife and water, keen to learn new things and share them with their local community.

At the North Wales Rivers Trust we have big plans to make conservation work and nature more accessible. Did you know the conservation industry is the second least diverse sector in the UK?

By providing training to River Ambassadors in different communities throughout our catchment we hope we will be able to help reach a more diverse audience, and bring our love for rivers, wildlife and nature as a whole into more people’s lives.

Lab Dwr - Our Citizen Science initiative

With the help of our River Ambassadors we are creating an engaged community of citizen scientists. Citizen science is an invaluable tool for an organisation like the Rivers Trust. The data River Ambassadors will collect through ‘Lab Dwr’ our water quality monitoring scheme will help expand our knowledge on the state of North Wales rivers. Each River Ambassador will be given a Lab Dwr water quality monitoring kit and the opportunity to attend a training day on how to use it.

What is the role of a River Ambassador?

As a River Ambassador, you will play an exciting role in the fight for healthier rivers. River Ambassadors will carry out water quality monitoring, litter clean ups and be supported in the organisation of events that peak their own river based interests!

Do I need qualifications or experience?

No. To become a River Ambassador all you need is an interest in wildlife, water quality and the desire to get your community involved in the project! You will be provided with all the kit needed.

All training will be provided at our training day in May. This will be a great opportunity to learn some new skills and spend time with like-minded people.
